How do I find the best method for my current innovation challenge without having to read many different books each time?
At the verrocchio Institute, this question has always occupied us in our work as innovation coaches. We always had a collection of proven methods for our own team, which we also made available to our clients if required.
On a Thursday evening in Florence in March 2016, we had the idea: "We expand this collection to always immediately find all innovation methods that are already successfully used and fit to my challenge".
But we didn't just want to catalogue them, we wanted to use them ourselves in our projects and share our experiences.
We were quickly able to convince other colleagues and innovation experts to share their experiences - the Florence Innovation Project was born.
After the start of our project, we quickly started to develop a database that would not only give us the opportunity to collect a large number of methods and experiences, but also include a powerful search.
We developed an index with the different perspectives that an innovation coach has in solving innovation challenges, be it planning an idea generation session, a design thinking workshop or strengthening the internal innovation culture.
Typical questions are:
We have studied many hundreds of sources during the creation of the Florence Innovation Project.
We have analysed websites and blogs and read almost every innovation book that is currently available.
Countless discussions with innovation experts have resulted in a detailed classification of the listed methods.
The methods are described in as short a form as possible, which is sufficient to carry out the method independently.
With each data record we refer directly to the origin of the methods and give, if it was possible, a link with order possibility of the original source, because here are still further details and backgrounds.
FLIP wants to give an overview and fit - the ultimate deepening can only be done with the original sources.
